Daniel Powell, 1st Period

What Sarah is trying to say is that we need to not be afraid to write. And if we are not afraid already, then we have accomplished a feat that is not achieved by many. How often we, as writers, will avoid writing even if that means doing something that we dread. When she talks about how other things become more appealing when there is other work to be done, I now exactly what she means. Doing dishes or laundry become the most interesting things in the world. Sarah clearly knows what she is talking about with this work. However what she neglects to mention is just how helpful leaving the work can be. Sometimes focusing on one writing project for to long can make it seem never ending or impossible to finish, but if you take a break from it, then it lets your ideas form naturally and flow smoother. At that point the real challenge comes in in the form of settling back into writing. I can also relate to her students with their thinking that they are behind or not working fast enough. I think that all writers are though. Writing is a process that builds, and its not until the final product that you can look at it and know that its solid. This causes a bit of risk that as you write, you will be discouraged or rushed to finish. And this is what makes writing take bravery to do.

I totally agree with Sara on the fact that writing is scary to most people because they fear 'Judgement', but Daniel brings up a great argument saying that sometimes in life you need breaks. I feel like writing your ideas down are like describing a river. Sometimes you need to let it flow by itself, because you can over work it until the river has lost its natural beauty, and has just become another work from the system.

I agree that doing other things, like doing laundry, becomes more exciting when trying to write. I have done it on multiple assignments. I find more important things to. I agree with Sarah that writing can be scary. When I'm assigned a writing assignment, I get scared and push it off. But I know that if you just start, it will be less scary and the words will just flow onto the paper.
