Kayla Vidal Period 3

One of my biggest fears in writing is having to show my emotions. To allow myself to become vulnerable and let people see my deepest thoughts and feelings. Often, it's hard for me to allow myself to channel these emotions, let alone put them into words. Sarah Park explained this dilemma perfectly in her "Darkness and Light: why writing is an act of bravery" article. She stated, "Emotions can have such a mastery over us, and forging a relationship with your pen can help unwind parts of that." I appreciate this quote because it explains the bittersweet battle of putting your emotions into your writing. The challenge of the task but also the satisfaction of knowing your emotions can affect another's emotions and trigger some of your own. Which leads me to another quote I appreciated from Park's article which says, "Words and writing are one way we tap into our soul and ideas-words are a connection device between humans, a way to tell stories and share parts of ourselves with other people." Although putting your emotions into words and allowing others to view them poses as a difficult task, it's extremely rewarding when you discover that your once feared emotions have made a connection with someone only through words.

  1. I totally agree with you! It's hard to show emotions in your writing, especially if you are afraid or hurt by one of these moments. But life throws curves and when you write about them, you will always gain something positive and become a better person from it.
