Marissa Earley Per. 5

I appreciated the value I got from Sarah's article.  I loved her quote from Brene Brown saying that "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on..." This quote made it very real to me that what we are writing could very well be the hidden part of us that we don't dare to act upon.  Maybe we're too afraid to show others and most importantly ourselves this hidden side.  Sarah also made this clear to me through her point that "Perhaps we are afraid of writing because we're afraid of knowing our own story". I think this is where I struggle, personally.  I would rather not know about this unknown side of my own self and keep my thoughts hidden.  I know, though, that I feel free when I let them go.  It's as if a 5,000 pound weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  It's the truth.  The truth is naked.  Even it can be afraid of itself.  Once it is out there it cannot be taken back and that's okay.  As new writers we will eventually learn that whatever thoughts come to our heads are ones worth writing down and remembering.  We deserve to be memorable.
