Sarah Sessions Per. 5

In "Darkness and Light", and article by Sarah Peck, I really enjoyed the phrase "This is the place where I’m allowed to think what I think, write what I want to write, and tell the stories no matter how fantastical or horrible they might feel. I have permission to explore these ideas, without consequence. I can write them down."  I liked this because it reminds me of journal writing.  In a journal, or diary, you can express anything you want.  You can write how you feel, think, and know.  What you write is between you and that piece of paper.  You can write whatever you want, "without consequence."  Paper will never judge you.
Another thing that Sarah said that I really liked was "You cannot control what happens to you in life, but you can always control what you will feel and do about what happens to you."  I've had a personal experience with this quote.  I have had something hard happen to me and at first I responded negatively to it.  I tried to avoid it at all costs.  I was mad and felt horrible. After a while, I changed my attitude about the situation.  I wrote down my thoughts and feelings about the situation and it helped me organize all my thoughts.  To today, I still remember that experience, but I can face it and realize that through all the trouble, I became a better person.

  1. I agree with all you were saying. Those quotes you pulled out of the article are great and ones I looked over. The journal things is way nice. Having everything written down and out is way nice. Love how we took it differently, but yet agree on a lot of the same things.
