Shawn Murray, Period 1, Darkness and Light
It may just be the fact that I have a strong voice and that I am not really afraid of judgement or of people's criticism toward me, but I sincerely disagree with Sarah's opinion that "Writing is an Act of Bravery". I personally believe that writing takes work and that it can be scary to do, but there are so many types of writing in this day and age that is is not n act of bravery for the general population of writers. Most of the people I know, and from what I have experienced, will actually use writing in this day and age as a crutch to say things that they would not say face to face. I can see where Sarah is coming with the bravery, but if I bring up certain things such as cyber bullying, what then? Is that still bravery? No, the writing then becomes a cowards act. I say this in hopes that I can get my point across that writing is not something that invokes a certain emotion, but it is a tool to make your feelings, whatever they may be, more-so understood to the readers and the audience.

I didn't even think about cyber bullying and how that really is just a cowardly act!
ReplyDeleteI agree that in some writing might not be an act of "bravery". I mean i couldn't have said it better my self saying cyber bullying as a "cowards act" and that definitely doesn't have any bravery involved. But at the same time i feel that there are some writings that take a great amount of bravery. I mean with the memoir its kind of hard to write something about your self that others are going to read, and will think either good of it or bad.

I liked how you disagreed with the opinion of the author and how you were able to bring up a very strong point why. You gave great examples and I agree with some of the points that you made. Great point.
