Patrick Madden successfully broke down some of the techniques behind writing an essay. I loved how he weaved in multiple different clips and quotations from other authors just to support his essay, about essays, more in depth. I found it extremely interesting when he touched on how "children may awaken us to the marvels slipping past us, almost unnoticed." Personally, I constantly fall into the cycle that he talks about; being awakened to outside forces after "sleepwalking" for so long. This really opened my eyes to me needing to open my eyes more (ironic?). Try to see the world from a child's point of view, to "[recognize] the world whispering" as much as I can. His take on essays are unique in the way that they aren't unique at all. He strongly pushed the idea of writing about common things because those are, ironically, the most interesting things to write about. He quoted another essay in his essay when he says, "Of the most ordinary, common, and known things, could we but find out their light, the greatest miracles of nature might be formed, and the most wondrous examples." This quote wrapped up what this section of his essay was pointing towards. Madden has quite an intriguing perspective of life.
