Bailey P. period 3

We all know the famous advice to 'Stop and smell the roses" but what other things are we overlooking to stop our lives to smell only the roses? Think about all the other flowers that aren't being sniffed because everyone has their noses set to roses. Madden writes his essay on the same idea, it is easy to go through the day looking for something unique to happen so it can be the topic of the next paper. I love the thought that there is more to the daily routine than just a bunch of events put together in a certain amount of time. Little things can be just the beginning of new inspiration, Madden uses his kids as his new angle to life. He finds daily deeds and conversations to be more than what they are, it's a cool way to take on a new perspective on life!  Madden says "ever once in a while something happens...outside ourselves that forces us to pay attention in a new way, or something happens inside us that enables us to pay attention in a new way. Ad we suddenly realized that the world is so much richer, and more magnificent, and more wonderful than we had felt for a long time.", what a beautiful thought. To transform any life into something "magnificent" gives hope to anyone to make their life even more meaningful. I hope to be able to capture this writing style from my own life and transfer my opinions to writing so I can inspire someone else like Madden has to me.

  1. Bailey,
I thought it was really neat how you used a well known analogy of "stop and smell the roses" and related it to Madden's essay! Nice work!
