In Patrick Madden's essay The Infinite Suggestiveness of Common Things, he writes about how people will never run out of things to write about, there will always be new experiences, new thoughts, new emotions to write and contemplate about. At first, this essay was a bit difficult to read because the author uses many large and uncommonly used words that many people don't already know off the top of their head. Amanuensis is a word he talks about a lot. He loves writing about uncommon words and where they came from and what they mean to him as a writer. He uses a lot of there types of words, and although I didn't like it so much at first, I found that it really helped his essay flow very nicely. It made it seem sophisticated, yet understandable to those who could really take the time to read and understand it. Another really special word to the author is quotidian, which is his favorite word. He talks about how it is ironic in its meaning because it means to be common or mundane, however he considers it to be an extremely interesting word. One of the main points that the author makes in this essay is that a person can write about anything, a story, an experience, even about a single word and what it means to them. This essay interested me in quite a few ways, and I do have some possible different techniques on my writing in the future.
