Kelsey Barney - Period 5

The Infinite Suggestiveness of Common Things by Patrick Madden looks almost too long to read when you just glance at it.  After all, what on earth could be so exciting about boring, everyday things? There seems to be no way that such common stuff could be worth ten pages of words.  Surprise! This essay brought up an excellent point.  I never really thought about daily life as 'quotidiana'.  When you get thinking about it though, it makes perfect sense that little snapshots of life have a huge impact.  When tiny moments of normal build everything, that means everything beautiful if made out of something normal.  For instance, just look at a waterfall.  On their own, elevated rocks and a trickle of water are not anything special.  When you look at them together, they can be breathtaking! Thanks to Madden, I can remember the way everything was so exciting when I was a child.  Life is amazing when you can find your childhood sense of wonder again.  I feel like if I can hold onto that feeling, my writing will show a huge improvement.
