Mitch R. Period 5

When I was first given this assignment I was thinking to myself  "Great, how am I suppose to read and relate to an article about essays that looks nearly as long as the Bible". Needless to say I found myself interested and engaged in Patrick Madden's work. In the passage Madden explains "students inevitably sought their most dramatic, easily significant experiences. For the majority of them, this translated to tales of loss or conquest." Then goes too quote "  The real story isn't the drama of what happens; it’s what we’re thinking about while nothing, or very little, is happening." After reading this it really went to show me how true this is. All of the time I find myself thinking about things to write about and eighty percent of the time my mind is like an annoying T.V. that has no signal. Blank. So I go to the easy way out, and write about a dramatic situation that I can go on forever about. Patrick Madden's paper brought me to the realization that our writing doesn't have to be dramatic, and in fact simple every day things can be just as powerful to write about as a headliner in the New York Times. It's cool to think that not everything out in the world is far from our grasp, instead some of the most intriguing things are waving frantically in front of our face waiting to get noticed.
